The Campaign so far 4

The Campaign so far

Kapitel 3c:

Voice of War

After long discussion, the Vogler Council (heroes included) decided following.

1. Send messenger to Kalaman.

2. Prepare for evacuation.

3. Summon the Ironclad Regiment to Vogler.

4. Check supply of weapon.

As the characters prepare, a messenger in black-and-red armor arrives at the River Gate. Villagers are the first to spot the messenger, and they alert the mayor and the characters.

When Mayor Raven and the characters arrive at the River Gate, they see beneath the carvings of leaping fish etched into Vogler’s open wooden gate, a human in black-and-red scale mail sits astride an armored warhorse. She holds out a rolled parchment and calls out, “Who among you speaks for this village?”

Raven steps forward and takes the messenger’s letter. The message reads as follows:

People of Vogler,

By the orders of Belephaion, the Voice of Takhisis, you will quarter the soldiers of the invincible Red Dragon Army this night.

Refuse and die.

This is the Dragon Queen’s will.

Nobody intervened with the messenger. Fast preparation was now crucial. A local fisherman was already ordered to sail midnight to Kalaman with the report of an army. The message-scroll was stamped with the sigil of Raven and Becklin. Our heros located vessels in different sizes, shapes for 450-500 persons. Some of them needed work to hold passangers. The Ironclad Regiment was ordered to hold the north part of the village. Our heroes were responsible for the safty of the harbour area in case an enemy breakthrough.

To everybodys surprise Than, the tinker gnome, had buildt a "Gnomeflinger" to use as air assault. The "flinged" person should also be eqcuipped with a slow fall gadget called "Narycrash".

Raven gave a speech to the villagers at village center.

Colorful Kingfisher Festival decorations still cover the village circle and the festival stage. Unlike the day before, the people collected in the village center are somber, muttering in worried tones as Mayor Raven takes the stage.

The mayor doesn’t mince words: “A dangerous army is headed for Vogler. The Ironclad Regiment will do what it can to defend Vogler, but we must be ready to flee.”

The gathered villagers began to panic but then Maviel took the stage and with an heartful speech she calmed everyone, gave them hope and inspiration to work as quickly as possible with tasks that were needed to produce makeshift vessels.

Soon the Red Dragon Army attacked. Maviels speech must have inspired, not only the villagers, but also the mercenarys. Because as we speak most of the frontline is holding**. Alas their are reports of small bands of enemies breaking through and approaching the harbour area.

What will our heroes do now?

Well, that story will be told at our next session!
